Bad Habits and Impotency – What Is the Connection?

All of us have picked up a habit or two along the way that we would do better to do without.  Did you realize, however, that your improper habits may be causing the number of physical maladies that you are dealing with?  If they are not yet causing them, you run the risk of dealing with them in the future.  For example, many of the things that are considered bad for us can come across as erectile dysfunction for one reason or another.  Here are three different habits that you would do better to avoid and you may have improved sexual health as a result.

Smoking is one of the problems that many of us have and we may have smoked ever since we were children.  If this is the case, it is certainly a difficult habit for us to break but it may also be lurking underneath the surface, just waiting to cause impotency in us.  It does this for several different reasons but basically, cigarette smoking limits our circulation to a large extent and restricts the amount of blood that can flow through our blood vessels.  Since the free flow of blood is important for maintaining an erection, smoking can cause it to be softer than normal.

Another problem that you may be dealing with which can certainly have negative side effects is indulging in too much alcohol.  Drinking too much can not only cause a problem with erectile dysfunction because of your being intoxicated, it can also make chemical changes in your body which can make it more difficult to have an erection in the first place.  Although there certainly is nothing wrong with enjoying a drink from time to time, having too much to drink can affect you negatively.

Finally, you may have allowed yourself to go, so to speak and are now getting severely out of shape.  If you have not made regular exercise, proper diet and staying in shape a part of your life, you may end up with erectile dysfunction.  As a matter of fact, you are up to 40% more likely to experience a problem with ED if you’re out of shape than if you were in shape.  By keeping yourself healthy, you will not only enjoy overall general health but you will also enjoy increased sexual health.

How Can Stress Cause Erectile Dysfunction?

Of all of the different things that we regularly put up with, I am always amazed with how much of an effect stress can have on the body.  Not only can it cause our mental faculties to be taxed beyond believe but it may also be causing physical problems that are difficult to overcome.  A good example of this is whenever somebody is dealing with a temporary bout of erectile dysfunction as a result of stress that they are experiencing.  If you are having this trouble, here is a little bit about what can be done as a solution.

It is important for you to understand that erectile dysfunction is very rarely a mental problem and more than likely, a physical problem is also to blame for what you are experiencing.  It may be, however, that you never noticed the fact that you had a problem with impotency until the stress got so great that it added to whatever the physical problem you were experiencing was.  Of course, there are times whenever an underlying cause is not to blame and the only thing that we can really point to as a cause for the problem is stress.
