Testosterone and Erectile Dysfunction

Posted under Articles

The human body is truly an amazing thing and inside of the human body is a perfect balance of chemicals that keep us running, so to speak.  In a male, testosterone plays a large role in not only your physical health but also your sexual health and development.  It is something that has really been in the headlines recently and many people have come to realize exactly how important having enough testosterone is.  This is especially true for men who are experiencing erectile dysfunction as a result of their testosterone levels being low.  If this is the case with you, what can be done in order to boost your levels?

One of the main ways for you to boost your testosterone, overcome erectile dysfunction and enjoy life in general is by getting healthy.  If you’re carrying around a belly in front of you, you’re not doing yourself any favors in this regard.  Not only does the fat make it difficult for you to do everyday things, it also cuts into your testosterone levels dramatically.  In order to boost your levels, go on a controlled diet where you are keeping your calories anywhere from 500 to 1000 calories below your daily needs.  This will cause you to lose a healthy 1 or 2 pounds per week and your testosterone levels will go up as a result.

In line with that, you want to make sure that you are doing exercises.  Not only will these exercises assist you in losing the belly, they are also good for building testosterone on their own.  Skip the aerobic exercises and the running for miles in favor of doing some weightlifting.  The heavier that you go with your weightlifting and the more you tax your muscles, the more testosterone your body is going to produce.  Not only will you look great, you will have the hormones necessary to maintain erections.

One final note about erectile dysfunction and testosterone has to do with your mental outlook.  Most of us that suffer from erectile dysfunction tend to suffer silently and it can be very taxing on our relationships.  Losing weight will not only help you to be able to gain your sexual health back, it will also enhance it.  For every 35 pounds of weight you lose, you will gain an extra inch of penis length.  Use that as the fuel to keep you going.

Depression Can Lead to Erectile Dysfunction

Posted under Articles

Erectile dysfunction is certainly no laughing matter and although there may be a number of different jokes that surround this particular subject, nobody is joking whenever they are experiencing the problem themselves.  Although physical problems are almost always behind a difficulty with impotency, there may be times whenever psychological problems are causing it as well.  In order for you to overcome these psychological problems, you really need to get to the root of them and treat them from there.

If you have been dealing with depression for an extended period of time, it is not unusual for you to experience erectile dysfunction from time to time.  The real problem with this is that it is not only a temporary problem that we are dealing with, it may also add to our depression as well.  In effect, it becomes a vicious circle that we have a difficult time breaking out of.  Not only that, it also causes a strain in the marriage relationship if these things are not discussed openly between sexual partners.  Overcoming this problem may be a little bit easier if the two of you are able to discuss it so that you are not depressed because of it.

Another reason that depression may be causing erectile dysfunction is because of the medication that is often given to people who are suffering.  Prescription medication causes a number of different side effects and depending on the medication you’re taking, impotency may be a possible thing that you need to deal with.  The only way for you to really overcome this problem is to stop taking the medicine but this can also be a little bit hazardous if you have a problem with severe depression.

I find that the best thing for you to do is to begin treating your depression naturally and see if you can wean yourself off of any medication that you may be taking for it with your doctor’s approval.  For example, eating a healthy diet and getting exercise can go a long way in helping you with your mental health as well as your sexual health.  Getting plenty of sleep, staying hydrated and taking some time for yourself are also ways that you may be able to help the situation.  You might also try supplementing with different vitamins in order to see if a vitamin deficiency is behind the problem.  Although it may take some time, it will be well worth it once you’re mental and physical health improves.

Is Your Diet to Blame for Your Erectile Dysfunction?

Posted under Articles

Before I begin saying anything else about this problem that I’m going to discuss, I need to mention the fact that it is not unusual to experience it from time to time.  The real problem comes if the condition is persistent and if it happens more than 25% of the time.  I’m talking about impotency in men, typically referred to as erectile dysfunction.  Even though most men experience this on occasion, having it regularly may be an indication that there is something else that needs taken care of.

One of the main problems which causes erectile dysfunction is some kind of an imbalance in the body.  It may be a serious imbalance that is caused by conditions such as diabetes or heart trouble but it may also be a simple matter of you not eating the right types of foods.  As a matter of fact, eating the wrong foods can affect your health negatively on so many different levels that it is difficult to explain it all.  That being said, however, watching what you eat and making sure that you are eating a healthy diet on a regular basis is the first step in overcoming any problem with your sexual health.

The main culprit as far as our eating problems are concerned is processed foods.  This is not only the prepackaged foods that many of us eat on a regular basis but it is also other processed food items, such as sugar or rice.  These things are not only processed, they are bleached and almost all of the nutritional value has been removed.  If you tend to eat things that are processed and sugary on a regular basis, you’re going to end up with trouble in some area of your life.  If it shows up as erectile dysfunction, there is really only one way for you to overcome it.

After ruling out serious problems that may be the underlying cause of your impotency, you should begin changing your diet to a healthier one.  It is not necessary in most cases for you to totally swing to an all health diet, but it is necessary for you to add healthy things into your diet.  With each meal, make sure that you are eating raw fruits and vegetables and avoid any processed sugar like the plague.  As you add more healthy things into your diet, the unhealthy things will be crowded out and your sexual health will begin to return.

Alcohol – the Sexual Health Killer

Posted under Articles

For those of us that enjoy having a drink from time to time, we realized that it can enhance our ability to enjoy ourselves to a certain extent.  Even the Bible recognized this thousands of years ago whenever it made the statement that a little wine makes the heart merry.  Not stopping with a little bit of wine or other alcoholic beverage, however, can cause a number of short-term problems that can be rather distressing.  One of these problems is erectile dysfunction and it is something that many of us who have had a little bit too much to drink have experienced from time to time.

Being able to be moderate in our habits as far as alcohol is concerned is a fantastic way for us to loosen up a little bit and to enjoy a good time with friends, along with enjoying a good time with our wife.  Some of us tend to go overboard, however, and that can be where the impotency starts.  If you are dealing with a problem because you have already over consumed in alcohol, there is very little that you are going to be able to do about it.  You are simply going to need to give up for the evening and try again once you have sobered up.

One of the reasons why alcohol causes erectile dysfunction is because of the effect that it has on your mental abilities.  Many people might consider it be the effect that it has on the blood flow but in reality, it causes blood flow to increase.  Although it is a bit confusing to understand, alcohol simply restricts your mental abilities which is a large part of you being able to maintain an erection.

There are other reasons why alcohol may be causing erectile dysfunction temporarily or more on a permanent basis.  Over consumption of alcohol can affect your body negatively in many ways, especially if you are drinking too much on a regular basis.  It can also cause other problems, such as obesity and high blood pressure which both have a negative effect on your sexual health.

If you are able to drink in moderation, a little bit of drinking may actually enhance the mood and your enjoyment of the sexual act.  If you tend to drink too much, however, the opposite may be true then you might find yourself unable to perform at all.

Supplement Your Way to Sexual Health

Posted under Articles

Although there are a number of different reasons why you might be having a difficult time maintaining an erection, one thing that you should certainly look into is where you need to be supplementing in some way or another.  After all, a lack of particular vitamins and minerals in your system can cause a number of different problems, impotency being only one of them.  If you’re interested in supplementing in order to find out if this can help you with your problem, here are some of the most common supplements that you should be taking.

It should be noted, however, before we discuss the supplements that you should be taking that a problem with erectile dysfunction is not always a simple matter of lacking in a vitamin or mineral.  There may be times that it is a warning symptom of another underlying cause that can be quite serious.  It is important for you to make sure that you rule out any of these other problems before you continue on a program of supplementation in order to solve the problem.  After all, it would do no good if you were to try to treat the problem in the wrong way.

One of the main types of supplements that people generally need whenever they have problems with impotency is DHEA.  This is a naturally occurring steroid in humans and as we age, the amount of DHEA that we have in our system diminishes.  Supplementing with DHEA may help your problem quickly.  Another thing that you may want to try is supplementing with arginine on a daily basis.  This feeds the body with nitric oxide, a necessary chemical in order to dilate blood vessels.  This can also have a positive effect on your sexual health.

There are also several different herbs that are recommended for erectile dysfunction.  Asian ginseng may help to improve your libido along with giving you stronger erections.  Ginkgo biloba is also another popular type of herbs to take for erectile dysfunction as it helps to promote blood flow to the penis.

It is important for you to remember that you may have to stay on a program of supplementation for quite some time.  The problems that occurred which put you out of balance did not occur overnight, you should not expect to be totally cured overnight either.
